Target Information
PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors are mitogens for mesenchymal-origin cells. The growth factor bound to a receptor monomer determines whether the receptor forms a homodimer or heterodimer (PDGFR alpha/beta). The PDGFRB gene on chromosome 5 is flanked by genes for granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor and macrophage-colony stimulating factor receptor, all possibly involved in 5-q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 fusing PDGFRB (CD140b) with ETV6 results in chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
