STAT6 protein은 cytokine, 특히 interleukin-4 및 IL-13에 의해 활성화되는 transcription factor입니다. Stat6 결손 생쥐는 IL-4 매개 기능(Th2 helper T-cell 분화, 세포 표면 마커 발현, T-cell 증식, IgE class switching 등)에 결함을 보입니다. STAT6 mRNA는 다양한 조직(림프구, 대장, 장, 난소, 전립선, 흉선, 비장, 신장, 간, 폐, 태반)에서 검출되며, Th2 면역 반응 및 IL-4 매개 생물학적 반응에 필수적입니다. STAT6는 STAT6a와 STAT6c 두 가지 isoform으로 존재합니다.
