Target Information
MRC2 may function as an endocytotic lectin receptor with calcium-dependent lectin activity. It internalizes glycosylated ligands via clathrin-mediated endocytosis and may be involved in the plasminogen activation system, influencing extracellular protease activity. MRC2 contributes to the uptake, remodeling, and degradation of extracellular collagen matrices and may play roles in cancer progression and chronic tissue-destructive diseases by regulating collagen turnover and cooperating with matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs).
