Product Specific Information

  • For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Insulin is a peptide hormone secreted by beta cells of the pancreatic islets. It regulates carbohydrate, protein, and lipid metabolism by enhancing membrane transport of glucose, amino acids, and certain ions. It promotes glycogen storage, triglyceride formation, and synthesis of proteins and nucleic acids. Insulin is a 51-amino acid polypeptide derived from proinsulin, which is cleaved into peptide A and peptide B chains linked by disulfide bonds and one C-peptide molecule. Insulin deficiency leads to diabetes mellitus and is also found in tumors of β-cell origin such as insulinoma.
