• For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
• Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

This gene encodes a type II transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the M28 peptidase family. The protein acts as a glutamate carboxypeptidase on various substrates, including folate and the neuropeptide N-acetyl-L-aspartyl-L-glutamate. It is expressed in tissues such as the prostate, central and peripheral nervous systems, and kidney.
Mutations may lead to impaired intestinal folate absorption and hyperhomocysteinemia. Expression in the brain is linked to pathological conditions involving glutamate excitotoxicity. In prostate tissue, this protein is upregulated in cancerous cells and serves as a diagnostic and prognostic indicator of prostate cancer.
This gene likely arose from a duplication event, and alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
