Product Specific Information

  • Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature (RT).
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.

Target Information

This gene encodes a type II transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the M28 peptidase family. The protein acts as a glutamate carboxypeptidase on various substrates, including folate and N-acetyl-L-aspartyl-L-glutamate. It is expressed in the prostate, central and peripheral nervous system, and kidney.
Mutations may cause impaired intestinal absorption of folates, leading to low blood folate levels and hyperhomocysteinemia.
In the brain, expression may be associated with pathological conditions involving glutamate excitotoxicity.
In the prostate, the protein is up-regulated in cancerous cells and serves as a diagnostic and prognostic marker for prostate cancer.
This gene likely arose from a duplication event and produces multiple isoforms via alternative splicing.
