Mouse anti-Human CD66e antibody, clone C365D3 (NCRC23), recognizes human Carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 5 (CEACAM5), also known as CD66e, carcinoembryonic antigen, Meconium antigen 100, or CEA.
Target Information
CEA (Carcinoembryonic Antigen, CD66e) is synthesized during fetal gut development and re-expressed in increased amounts in intestinal carcinomas and other tumors.
It belongs to the immunoglobulin supergene family and consists of one N domain and six immunoglobulin constant-like A (A1, A2, A3) and B (B1, B2, B3) domains.
CEA antibodies are useful for identifying metastatic adenocarcinoma origins and distinguishing pulmonary adenocarcinomas (60–70% CEA+) from pleural mesotheliomas (rarely or weakly CEA+).
CEA functions as a cell adhesion molecule and is involved in tissue organization, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tumor suppression, metastasis, and immune modulation.
Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been reported, though not all full-length variants are defined.
