Target Information
Histones are nuclear proteins that play an important role in maintaining the structure of chromosomes in eukaryotes. The nucleosome consists of approximately 146 bp of DNA wrapped around a histone octamer composed of H2A, H2B, H3, and H4. H2A is essential for proper centromere assembly and function and also contributes to gene regulation. The protein can be modified by acetylation and phosphorylation.
