Target Information
BUBR1 (BUB1B) is a member of the Ser/Thr protein kinase family and a key component of the mitotic checkpoint that delays anaphase until all chromosomes are properly attached to the spindle. Defective spindle checkpoints can lead to genetic instability and malignant transformation. Human cells contain two related kinases, hBUBR1 and hBUB1, which monitor kinetochore-microtubule interactions during mitosis. hBUBR1 prevents premature anaphase entry and has been detected in various human cancers. It also interacts with BCSG1 (Breast Cancer-Specific Gene 1), potentially accelerating breast cancer progression through checkpoint inactivation.
