Target Information
ORM1 is an acute phase plasma protein synthesized by the liver. It regulates the interaction between blood cells and endothelial cells, and together with haptoglobin and C-reactive protein, contributes to the regulation of cell extravasation during infection and inflammation. ORM1 is a major acute phase reactant in both humans and rats. In human plasma, ORM1 (44 kDa) concentration ranges from 0.5–1.4 mg/mL and increases during acute inflammation such as trauma, malignancies, myocardial infarction, rheumatoid arthritis, bacterial infections, major surgery, and chronic pain. It can be used for the study and diagnosis of inflammatory conditions.
