Target Information
MASTL (microtubule associated serine/threonine kinase-like) belongs to the MAST family within the AGC Ser/Thr protein kinase group. It promotes mitotic progression and cell cycle reentry after DNA damage. Loss of MASTL leads to defects in chromosome condensation and separation, primarily mediated by inhibition of PP2A/B55 delta. Overexpression of MASTL is associated with cancer progression, poor survival, and tumor recurrence. Mutations at this locus are linked to autosomal dominant thrombocytopenia (thrombocytopenia-2). Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified.
