Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD72, a 39–43 kDa type II membrane glycoprotein of the C-type lectin family.
CD72 is a pan-B cell marker expressed throughout B lymphocyte differentiation except in plasma cells, and is also present on follicular dendritic cells.
Target Information
CD72 is a transmembrane glycoprotein expressed as a homodimer mainly in B cells, and also in dendritic cells and macrophages.
It interacts with tyrosine phosphatase SHP-1 through its ITIMs, suppressing B cell responsiveness.
Binding of CD72 with its ligand CD100 (Sema4D) prevents BCR association and phosphorylation, leading to SHP-1 dissociation and B cell activation.
