UBE2E3 (also known as UBCH9) is a ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme (E2) involved in the ubiquitin pathway, which facilitates the covalent attachment of ubiquitin to target proteins.
It plays a role in:
- Regulation of transepithelial sodium transport in renal cells
- Cell growth arrest
- Shuttling between cytoplasm and nucleus in an IPO11-dependent manner
UBE2E3 is ubiquitously expressed at low levels and highly expressed in skeletal muscle.
