Target Information
Opsin Blue belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family, opsin subfamily. It encodes the blue cone pigment gene responsible for normal color vision. Defects in this gene cause tritan color blindness (tritanopia), leading to loss of blue and yellow sensory mechanisms while retaining red and green perception.
