This antibody detects endogenous levels of Estrogen Receptor-beta only when phosphorylated at Ser87.
Target Information
Estrogen Receptor beta (ERβ, NR3A2) is a nuclear receptor protein of approximately 55 kDa, with isoforms ranging from 36–59 kDa. It was initially cloned from human testis and belongs to the steroid/thyroid hormone receptor superfamily. ERβ acts as a ligand-activated transcription factor that binds estrogen, undergoes conformational change, dimerizes, and binds to estrogen response elements (ERE) in DNA to regulate gene transcription. Two forms of estrogen receptors exist, ERα (ESR1) and ERβ (ESR2), with ERβ showing similar estrogen affinity but sometimes acting as a dominant inhibitor of ERα activity. ERβ is widely expressed and may function as a tumor suppressor, implicated in diseases such as prostate cancer, autism spectrum disorder, medullary thyroid carcinoma, De Quervain Disease, and cardiovascular disorders.
