Target Information

This gene encodes a large transmembrane receptor protein involved in angiogenesis, lymphocyte homing, cell adhesion, and receptor scavenging. It contains multiple fasciclin, EGF-like, and laminin-type domains, as well as a C-type lectin-like hyaluronan-binding Link module. The protein is primarily expressed on sinusoidal endothelial cells of the liver, spleen, and lymph node. It binds and endocytoses ligands such as hyaluronan, low-density lipoprotein, bacteria, and advanced glycosylation end products, supporting its role as a scavenger receptor cycling between the plasma membrane and lysosomes.
