Target Information
Neuroglycan C is a transmembrane chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan exclusively expressed in the central nervous system. Its gene expression is developmentally regulated and can be altered by psychostimulant addiction or nerve lesion. The core protein has a multidomain structure distinct from other proteoglycans and undergoes post-translational modifications such as phosphorylation and glycosylation. During cerebellum and retina development, Neuroglycan C changes from a proteoglycan form to a non-proteoglycan form, suggesting its involvement in neuronal circuit formation in the CNS.
