Target Information

PDGFRB (Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor Beta) is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The receptor can form homodimers or heterodimers with PDGF receptor alpha, depending on the bound ligand. The PDGFRB gene is located on chromosome 5 near genes for granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor and macrophage-colony stimulating factor receptor, potentially involved in the 5-q syndrome.
A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 that fuses PDGFRB (CD140b) with the ETV6 leukemia gene results in a chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
