Product Specific Information

The eBioSY11B5 monoclonal antibody recognizes human CD157 (Mo5, BST-1). CD157 is a 42–45 kDa, GPI-anchored protein with structural and functional similarities to CD38. It was initially cloned for its expression on monocytes and macrophages and later identified as BST-1, expressed on bone marrow stromal cells that promote pre-B cell proliferation.

CD157 functions as both an enzyme and receptor, involved in NAD⁺ metabolism and intracellular Ca²⁺ regulation. As a receptor, CD157 can trigger phosphorylation of cytoplasmic proteins such as focal adhesion kinase (FAK).

• Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells
• Recommended use: 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test (in 100 µL final volume with 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test)

Important Notes

• NovaFluor dyes are not compatible with DNA intercalating viability dyes (e.g., propidium iodide, 7-AAD, DAPI).
• Use Invitrogen LIVE/DEAD Fixable Dead Cell stains for viability analysis.
• Use CellBlox Plus Blocking Buffer (Cat. No. C001T06F01) for optimal staining. Add 5 µL per sample to antibody cocktails prior to combining with cells.
• For single-color controls: use 5 µL buffer per 100 µL of cell sample (10³–10⁸ cells).

NovaFluor conjugates are based on Phiton™ technology, employing nucleic acid dye structures engineered for optimized fluorescent signatures with minimal spillover and spread.

Target: Bone marrow stromal cell antigen 1 (BST1)
BST1 is a GPI-anchored molecule that facilitates pre-B cell growth and functions as ADP-ribosyl cyclase 2 (DAMP-1). It is expressed by the BST1 gene in humans and is upregulated in bone marrow stromal cells from rheumatoid arthritis patients. Overexpression may contribute to B-cell abnormalities associated with the disease.
