Target Information
CIS contains both SH2 and SOCS box domains, belonging to the cytokine-induced STAT inhibitor (CIS) family, also known as SOCS or SSI. These proteins are cytokine-inducible negative regulators of cytokine signaling. Expression is induced by IL2, IL3, GM-CSF, and EPO in hematopoietic cells. Proteasome-mediated degradation of CIS is involved in inactivation of the erythropoietin receptor. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
