Target Information
CD45 (LCA, leukocyte common antigen) is a receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) expressed in all nucleated hematopoietic cells, comprising about 10% of surface proteins in lymphocytes. It is absent in non-hematopoietic tissues and cells.
CD45 regulates Src-family kinases and is critical for lymphocyte development and antigen signaling. Multiple isoforms exist due to alternative splicing, differing in extracellular domains but sharing transmembrane and cytoplasmic regions.
CD45 isoforms, such as CD45RA and CD45RO, vary in expression among lymphoid subtypes and influence membrane domain localization and signaling. It plays essential roles in T- and B-cell receptor signaling, cytokine receptor regulation, and integrin-mediated survival pathways.
