Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) is a membrane-bound glycoprotein enzyme essential for thyroid gland function. It catalyzes the iodination of tyrosine residues in thyroglobulin and the coupling of iodotyrosines to form thyroid hormones such as thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3).
Mutations in the TPO gene can cause disorders such as congenital hypothyroidism, congenital goiter, and thyroid hormone organification defect IIA. Several transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
