Product Specific Information
This antibody is predicted to react with human, mouse, chicken, bovine, canine, non-human primate, zebrafish, and Xenopus based on 100% sequence homology.
In Western blot, this antibody is specific for the ~46 kDa GSK3 beta protein phosphorylated at Ser9.
It also weakly labels the ~51 kDa GSK3 alpha band due to the high degree of homology between the two subunits.
Immunolabeling is blocked by the phosphopeptide used as antigen but not by the corresponding dephosphopeptide.
Target Information
GSK3B is a proline-directed serine/threonine protein kinase involved in energy metabolism, neuronal cell development, and body pattern formation.
It is a negative regulator of glucose homeostasis and is involved in energy metabolism, inflammation, ER-stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and apoptotic pathways.
GSK3B is a critical component of the Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway, where its activity results in the inhibition of Wnt signaling by mediating the degradation of beta-catenin.
It is also involved in the Hedgehog, Notch, and insulin signaling pathways.
