Product Specific Information
- In direct ELISAs, approximately 10% cross-reactivity with recombinant human LDL R is observed.
- Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.

Target Information
The low density lipoprotein receptor (LDL-R) gene family consists of cell surface proteins involved in receptor-mediated endocytosis of specific ligands. LDL is normally bound at the cell membrane and taken into the cell, ending up in lysosomes where the protein is degraded and cholesterol is released. This process represses HMG CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol synthesis, while stimulating cholesterol ester synthesis.
Mutations in the LDL-R gene cause familial hypercholesterolemia, an autosomal dominant disorder. LDL-R, along with SCARB1, CLDN1, and CD81, has been reported as an entry factor for the Hepatitis C virus. At least three isoforms of LDL-R are known to exist.
