Target Information
ACINUS (apoptotic chromatin condensation inducer in the nucleus) is an inducer of chromatin condensation. It is cleaved by caspase-3 and an additional unknown protease to generate an active peptide (p17), which induces chromatin condensation in vitro and in cells. ACINUS is ubiquitously expressed, and three different spliced forms have been identified in human and mouse.
