MA1-10517 detects Insulin from human, bovine, and porcine samples.
It has been successfully used in ELISA applications.
The immunogen is purified human Insulin.
Target Information
Insulin is a peptide hormone secreted by beta cells of the pancreatic islets. It regulates carbohydrate, protein, and lipid metabolism by enhancing membrane transport of glucose, amino acids, and certain ions. It promotes glycogen storage, triglyceride formation, and synthesis of proteins and nucleic acids.
Insulin is a 51-amino acid polypeptide produced from proinsulin, which is cleaved into two chains (A and B) linked by disulfide bonds and one molecule of C-peptide.
Insulin deficiency results in diabetes mellitus, and it is also present in tumors of β-cell origin such as insulinoma.
