R17217 단클론 항체는 마우스 CD71(Transferrin Receptor)을 인식합니다. CD71은 세포 표면에서 호모다이머 형태로 존재하며 세포 성장에 필수적인 170–180 kDa의 type II 막단백질입니다. 미성숙 증식 세포에서 강하게 발현되며, 성숙 림프구에서는 낮은 수준으로 발현됩니다. 항원 또는 mitogen 자극 시 T 및 B 세포에서 CD71 발현이 증가합니다. 마우스 계통 간 발현 수준 차이가 보고되었습니다.

철의 세포 내 흡수는 Transferrin Receptor를 통한 수용체 매개 엔도사이토시스에 의해 이루어집니다. 엔도좀 산성화로 철이 방출되고, Apotransferrin-Receptor 복합체는 중성 pH로 회복되며 수용체 친화성을 잃은 상태로 세포 표면으로 재순환됩니다. Transferrin Receptor는 적혈구 및 신경계 발달에 필수적이며, 혈청 Transferrin Receptor(sTfR)는 EPO 남용 탐지 및 다양한 빈혈 진단(류마티스 관절염, 임신, IBS, HIV 등)에 활용됩니다.
