Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. Purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
The antizyme family consists of small proteins involved in regulating polyamine biosynthesis such as putrescine, spermidine, and spermine, which are important for cell growth and division.
OAZ3 (Ornithine decarboxylase antizyme 3) is a 187-amino-acid protein belonging to the ODC antizyme family. It likely plays a key role in spermatogenesis by controlling intracellular polyamine levels in haploid germ cells through binding and destabilizing ornithine decarboxylase.
Mutations in the AZ3 gene are not a common cause of male infertility, and the normal AZ3 protein does not accelerate ornithine decarboxylase degradation. AZ3 expression begins sharply in early spermatids, peaks in later stages, and disappears in spermatozoa.
