Target Information
Reticulocalbin 1 (RCN1) is a calcium-binding protein located in the lumen of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER).
This protein contains six conserved regions with similarity to high-affinity Ca²⁺-binding motifs (EF-hand).
High conservation of amino acid residues outside these motifs suggests additional biochemical functions beyond calcium binding.
In human endothelial and prostate cancer cell lines, RCN1 localizes to the plasma membrane.
