Product Specific Information

The XMG1.2 antibody reacts with mouse interferon (IFN) gamma and functions as a neutralizing antibody. Mouse IFN gamma is a 20 kDa cytokine produced by activated T, B, and NK cells, exhibiting antiviral and antiparasitic activity. It synergizes with TNF alpha to inhibit cell proliferation and modulates immune responses through high-affinity receptors. Glycosylation does not affect its biological activity.

Applications Reported: Suitable for intracellular staining and flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested on Con A-stimulated mouse splenocytes at ≤0.25 µg/test (defined as antibody amount per 100 µL sample). Optimal titration recommended.

Light Sensitivity: Protect from light to avoid photo-induced oxidation.
Fixation: Compatible with IC Fixation Buffer (Product #00-8222-49) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (Product #00-5333-57). Samples can be stored up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark.
Excitation/Emission: 488–561 nm / 775 nm; suitable for Blue, Green, and Yellow-Green lasers.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.


Target Information

IFN gamma (Interferon gamma, Type II interferon) is produced mainly by T-lymphocytes and NK cells in response to antigens and cytokines. It is a dimeric glycoprotein (~45 kDa), appearing as 25, 20, and 15.5 kDa bands due to glycosylation. Human IFN gamma does not cross-react with mouse IFN gamma. Functions include antiviral and antiproliferative activity, MHC induction, macrophage activation, and enhanced B-cell immunoglobulin secretion. It acts through IFN gamma receptor I/II and the JAK-STAT pathway. Expression is upregulated by IL2, FGF, EGF, and downregulated by vitamin D3 or DMN. Mutations in the IFN gamma gene are linked to aplastic anemia.
