Target Information

Cas9 is an RNA-guided DNA endonuclease enzyme associated with the CRISPR adaptive immunity system in bacteria and genetic engineering.
It enables targeted DNA cleavage guided by RNA, allowing indel mutations, sequence replacements, insertions, and genomic rearrangements.
Cas9 can also be used for gene upregulation or epigenetic modifications such as histone or DNA methylation changes.

Cas9 may be derived from Streptococcus pyogenes (SpCas9) or Staphylococcus aureus (SaCas9).
SaCas9 offers advantages such as smaller size, high efficiency, and specificity, recognizing NNGRRT PAM sequences and cleaving DNA at rates comparable to SpCas9.
Its compact structure makes it suitable for all-in-one vector delivery systems combining Cas9 and multiple gRNA cassettes.
