Target Information
TSH Receptor gene encodes a membrane protein that plays a key role in controlling thyroid cell metabolism. It acts as a receptor for thyrotropin and thyrostimulin, with activity mediated by adenylate cyclase. Defects in this gene are associated with various types of hyperthyroidism. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
