Target Information
EpoR encodes the erythropoietin receptor, a member of the cytokine receptor family. When erythropoietin binds to this receptor, it activates Jak2 tyrosine kinase, which in turn triggers intracellular pathways such as Ras/MAP kinase, phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase, and STAT transcription factors. Activated EpoR plays an essential role in erythroid cell survival. Mutations or dysregulation of this gene can lead to erythroleukemia, familial erythrocytosis, and may influence tumor growth. Multiple transcript variants exist due to alternative splicing.
