Product Specific Information
This antibody is predicted to react with Monkey, Rat, Mouse, Pig, Bovine, Rabbit, and Dog.
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning the specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.
Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:
- Better specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulations
- Broader immunoreactivity due to larger rabbit immune repertoire
Target Information
EGFR (Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor) is a receptor tyrosine kinase that signals in response to various growth factors. Overexpression has been linked to numerous types of cancer, and EGFR is the target of both biological and small molecule therapeutics. The EGFR gene is located on human chromosome 7 and belongs to the HER/ERbB family, which includes ERbB2, ERbB3, and ERbB4.
Binding of ligands such as EGF and TGF-α to the extracellular domain leads to EGFR dimerization and autophosphorylation of tyrosine residues in the cytoplasmic domain. Overexpression is observed in tumors of the head and neck, brain, bladder, stomach, breast, lung, endometrium, cervix, vulva, ovary, esophagus, and in squamous cell carcinoma.
