Target Information
BRCA1 (breast and ovarian cancer susceptibility protein 1)는 핵 내 인산화 단백질로, 유전체 안정성을 유지하고 종양 억제 단백질, DNA 손상 감지 단백질, 신호 전달 인자와 함께 BASC(BRCA1 associated genome surveillance complex)를 형성하여 종양 억제 역할을 합니다.
BRCA1은 RNA polymerase II 및 histone deacetylase complex와 상호작용하며, 전사 조절, 이중 가닥 DNA 손상 복구, 재조합 과정에 관여합니다.
BRCA1 유전자의 돌연변이는 약 40%의 유전성 유방암과 80% 이상의 유전성 유방 및 난소암의 원인으로 알려져 있습니다.
대체 스플라이싱은 BRCA1의 세포 내 위치 및 생리적 기능을 조절하며, 다양한 변이형 중 일부는 질병 관련 돌연변이로 보고되었습니다.
이 유전자는 염색체 17에 위치하며, 관련된 유사 유전자(pseudogene)도 존재합니다.
