Target Information
The nuclear pore complex is a massive structure extending across the nuclear envelope, forming a gateway that regulates macromolecule transport between the nucleus and cytoplasm. Nucleoporins are major components of this complex in eukaryotic cells. The NUP93 gene encodes a nucleoporin that localizes to both the basket of the pore and the nuclear entry of the gated channel. It is a target of caspase cysteine proteases involved in apoptosis. Alternative splicing produces multiple isoforms.
