The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.

The encoded protein is a glycoprotein belonging to the pentraxin family, characterized by a pentameric structure. Members of this family share considerable sequence homology, likely due to gene duplication. The protein binds to amyloid cross-beta fold structures, suggesting a potential chaperone role.
