Product Specific Information

MA1-43033 detects plasminogen in mouse samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot and ELISA applications.
MA1-43033 was derived from mouse plasminogen.

Target Information

Plasminogen is a plasma protein synthesized primarily in the liver. It consists of a single polypeptide chain with a molecular weight of approximately 88.5 kDa. The plasma concentration typically ranges from 70 to 200 mg/L.
Plasminogen is activated by tissue-plasminogen activator, urokinase, and streptokinase to form plasmin. Activation occurs via cleavage and release of the preactivation peptide.
Plasmin comprises a heavy (A-) chain containing five kringles and a light (B-) chain with the active site. It is a trypsin-like protease whose natural substrate is fibrin. Binding sites for fibrin are located on the kringles.
Plasmin plays an essential role in fibrinolysis, and congenital defects in plasmin leading to reduced fibrinolytic potential can cause recurring thrombosis, thrombophlebitis, and pulmonary embolism.
