Product Specific Information

OPA1-03170 detects human phospho-EGFR (pTyr1068) from human samples.
This antibody has been successfully used in Western blot procedures.
By Western blot, it detects an ~185 kDa protein representing phospho-EGFR (pTyr1068).
The immunizing phosphopeptide was derived from a region of human EGFR that contains tyrosine 1068.

Target Information

EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) is a receptor tyrosine kinase that signals in response to various growth factors.
Overexpression has been linked to numerous types of cancer, and EGFR is the target of both biological and small molecule therapeutics.
EGFR is encoded by the EGFR gene located on chromosome 7 in humans and belongs to the HER/ERbB family, which includes ERbB2, ERbB3, and ERbB4.
EGFR is a transmembrane receptor, and binding of ligands such as EGF and TGF-α to the extracellular domain leads to receptor dimerization followed by autophosphorylation of tyrosine residues in the cytoplasmic domain.
Overexpression is observed in tumors of the head and neck, brain, bladder, stomach, breast, lung, endometrium, cervix, vulva, ovary, esophagus, and in squamous cell carcinoma.
