Description:
The MU5UBEE monoclonal antibody reacts with human and non-human primate CD185 (CXCR5, also known as Burkitt lymphoma receptor 1, BLR1). CD185 is a seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor originally identified in Burkitt’s lymphoma. It is expressed on B cells, CD4⁺ T cells (but not Th1 or Th2), and a subset of memory (CD45RO⁺) T cells. In tonsil tissue, CD185 is expressed on nearly all CD4⁺ cells with activation markers such as CD69 and ICOS and plays a role in B cell help and antibody production.
This receptor is critical for lymphocyte trafficking, particularly T cell migration into B cell follicles in response to CXCL13, making CD185 a marker of follicular helper T cells. The MU5UBEE antibody cross-reacts with Rhesus macaque.
Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-diluted and validated for flow cytometry on normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended use: 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test in a final volume of 100 µL. Suitable for 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.
Fluorochrome Information:
Brilliant Violet™ 421 (BV421) emits at 423 nm and is excited by a 405 nm laser. Ensure that the cytometer is equipped to detect this fluorochrome.
Staining Buffer Recommendation:
When using multiple polymer dye-conjugated antibodies, use Super Bright Complete Staining Buffer (Product # SB-4401-42) or Brilliant Stain Buffer™ (Product # 00-4409-75) to minimize non-specific interactions.

Target Information
CXCR5 (C-X-C Chemokine Receptor Type 5, CD185), also known as Burkitt lymphoma receptor 1 (BLR1), is a G protein-coupled receptor for the chemokine BLC. It is specifically expressed in Burkitt’s lymphoma and lymphatic tissues such as lymph node follicles and spleen. CXCR5 plays an essential role in B cell migration and is expressed in human blood, salivary gland, and various animal tissues including lymph node, spleen, and tonsil.
G-protein Coupled Receptors (GPCRs) share a structural motif of seven membrane-spanning helices and exist in active and inactive forms. They are key pharmacological targets, with drugs such as Zyprexa and Claritin developed as GPCR-targeted therapeutics.
