Target Information
The Golgi apparatus participates in glycosylation and transport of proteins and lipids in the secretory pathway, consisting of stacked cisternae (flattened membrane sacs). Interactions between the Golgi and microtubules are important for Golgi reorganization after mitosis.
This gene encodes one of the golgins, a family of proteins localized to the Golgi, playing roles in stacking of Golgi cisternae and vesicular transport.
Several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described, though their full-length nature remains undetermined.
