Target Information
Dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) converts dihydrofolate into tetrahydrofolate, which is essential for the synthesis of purines, thymidylic acid, and certain amino acids.
The functional DHFR gene is located on chromosome 5, and several intronless processed pseudogenes or DHFR-like genes exist on other chromosomes.
Deficiency in DHFR has been associated with megaloblastic anemia.
