Cytoplasm, nucleus, cytoskeleton, microtubule organizing center (centrosome), perinuclear region, cell membrane, spindle, Golgi apparatus.
Localized at mitotic spindle microtubules and centrosomes during interphase.
Recruited to spindle apparatus and centrosomes in response to DNA damage.
Correct subcellular localization requires kinase activity.
배경 (Background)
This gene belongs to the casein kinase I (CKI) family, which regulates cytoplasmic and nuclear processes including DNA replication and repair.
It may also play roles in apoptosis regulation, circadian rhythm, microtubule dynamics, chromosome segregation, and p53-mediated growth control.
The encoded protein shows high similarity with mouse and rat CK1 delta homologs.
Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified (RefSeq, Feb 2014).
