GARS는 glycyl-tRNA synthetase로, tRNA에 해당 아미노산을 결합시키는 aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase 중 하나입니다. 이 단백질은 (alpha)₂ 이합체 형태를 가지며, class II tRNA synthetase 계열에 속합니다. GARS는 다발성 근염(polymyositis) 및 피부근염(dermatomyositis)과 같은 자가면역질환에서 자가항체의 표적이 되는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
