Target Information
SOCS7 regulates signaling cascades likely through protein ubiquitination and/or sequestration. It functions in insulin signaling and glucose homeostasis via IRS1 ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation. SOCS7 also inhibits prolactin, growth hormone, and leptin signaling by preventing STAT3 and STAT5 activation, sequestering them in the cytoplasm, and reducing their DNA binding. SOCS7 may act as a substrate recognition component of a SCF-like E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex mediating ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation of target proteins.
