Description:
The OX35 monoclonal antibody reacts with rat CD4. CD4 is a co-receptor involved in T cell receptor signaling via interaction with MHC class II on antigen-presenting cells (APCs). CD4 is expressed in thymus by CD4+CD8+ double-positive and CD4+ single-positive thymocytes, and by CD4+ helper T cells in peripheral tissues. CD4 is a membrane glycoprotein with four extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains.

Applications Reported:
This antibody is reported for use in flow cytometric analysis and immunohistology of frozen tissue sections.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of rat splenocytes. Recommended usage ≤0.25 µg per test (100 µL volume). Optimal dilution should be determined empirically based on cell number (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Target Information

CD4 antigen is a co-receptor for MHC class II recognition and HIV entry. It is mainly expressed in T helper lymphocytes, as well as monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. CD4 expression is found in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and various non-lymphoid tissues such as brain and gut. CD4 participates in early T-cell activation through association with the T-cell receptor complex and Lck kinase, and may mediate neuronal damage in immune-related CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been reported (RefSeq, July 2017).
