Product Specific Information

Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

The mitochondrial enzyme encoded by this gene catalyzes synthesis of carbamoyl phosphate from ammonia and bicarbonate.
This reaction is the first committed step of the urea cycle, important for removal of excess urea from cells.
The encoded protein may also represent a core mitochondrial nucleoid protein.
Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene; the shortest isoform may not be localized to the mitochondrion.
Mutations in this gene are associated with carbamoyl phosphate synthetase deficiency, susceptibility to persistent pulmonary hypertension, and venoocclusive disease after bone marrow transplantation.
