Target Information
Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and plays a crucial role in brain development. Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications of the ALK gene are associated with several tumors, including anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer. Chromosomal rearrangements often lead to fusion genes such as NPM-ALK, which exhibit oncogenic properties. ALK encodes a receptor protein-tyrosine kinase with transmembrane and extracellular domains, showing high sequence similarity to LTK and functional importance in neuronal development.
