MKK6 (MEK6, MAP2K6)는 이중 특이성 단백질 키나아제 계열의 구성원으로, 미토겐 활성화 단백질(MAP) 키나아제 키나아제로 작용합니다. MAP 키나아제는 다양한 생화학적 신호의 통합 지점으로 작용하며, 염증성 사이토카인이나 환경적 스트레스에 반응하여 p38 MAP 키나아제를 인산화 및 활성화합니다. 이 단백질은 p38 MAP 키나아제 매개 신호전달 경로의 필수 구성 요소로, 스트레스 유도 세포주기 정지, 전사 활성화, 세포사멸 등 다양한 세포 과정에 관여합니다.
조직 특이성: Isoform 2는 골격근에서만 발현되며, Isoform 1은 골격근, 심장, 간 및 췌장에서 낮은 수준으로 발현됩니다.
