Target Information
NMDAR1 encodes a protein that is a critical subunit of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors, members of the glutamate receptor channel superfamily. These are heteromeric protein complexes forming ligand-gated ion channels involved in synaptic plasticity, memory, and learning. Expression of different isoforms may contribute to subunit functional diversity. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.
